- 1/4 lb. pork (lean, we used 1/2 pound)
- 2 slices fresh ginger root (we used 4 slices)
- napa cabbage (1/2 pound Chinese, we used a full pound)
- 6 cups stock (or water, we used about 9 cups shrimp stock)
- 1 Tbsp. peanut oil (didn't have it, we used sesame oil)
- 1 tsp. salt (only used 1/2 teaspoon since there would be plenty of salt from the soy sauce)
- 1/2 tsp. sugar (we used a little more than 1/2 teaspoon)
- 2 tsp. soy sauce (used 3 teaspoons)
- 1 dash pepper
