- 4 cups vegetable broth
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp. oregano
- 4 fresh basil leaves (finely chopped)
- 1 cup tomato sauce (I use homemade sauce that we make annually and preserve, but feel free to use your favourite homemade or store bought tomato sauce)
- 1 red onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 red bell pepper (thinly sliced)
- 1 orange bell pepper (or yellow, thinly sliced)
- 1 jalapeno (thinly sliced)
- 10 basil leaves (left whole)
