    Good basic recipe. Grandkids like to carve initials into top crust. I like to “paint” top with an egg yolk mixed with 1/2 tsp cream because it looks better and... my mother did. Can be frozen before baking and placed in oven right from freezer and baked at 325 for 1 1/2 hours. Add additional time at higher temp if needed to “brown “.

    I substituted 1/4 cup of white sugar with brown sugar and added 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Best apple pie ever!

    My first pie of course it stuck to the pan. It was still yummy but it was alittle strong tasting. Might dial make some of the spices next time.
