  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 red peppers (seeded and finely chopped)
  • 2 granny smith apples (grated)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 10 whole cloves

    Directions

    1. Heat oil in a large saucepan on medium heat. Add onion and cook for 3-5 mins, until soft.
    2. Add peppers, apples, brown sugar, vinegar and cloves. Bring to a boil.
    3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, until relish thickens and liquid is almost absorbed.
    4. Serve with spicy sausages, grilled meat or cheese.
