- 20 oz. pearl onions (fresh, peeled, I used frozen)
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups half-and-half
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper (freshly)
- 1/4 tsp. ground mustard
- 1 dash ground nutmeg
- 1 1/2 cups white cheddar cheese (shredded, divided)
- 1 1/4 cups fresh breadcrumbs (Pulse 3 bread slices in a mini food chopper or food processor. It should yield 1¼ cups breadcrumbs)
- 2 Tbsp. butter (melted)
- 1 tsp. chopped fresh thyme
