- 2 carrots (peeled and cut in small dice)
- 1 pepper (small hot Italian, minced, if you don't have one you can use red pepper flakes)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- olive oil (good)
- 1 lb. beef (ground Angus)
- 1/2 lb. ground pork
- 26 oz. Italian tomatoes (Pomi chopped or pureed)
- 2 Tbsp. tomato paste (from a tube that you should always have in your fridge)
- 1/2 cup red wine (I used Marsala, because I didn't have any red around)
- 1 cup water
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 bunch fresh thyme leaves (removed)
- pepper
- salt
- heavy cream (a splash of)
- parmigiano reggiano (fresh)
- 1 box spaghetti (whole grain)
