Instead of using ground beef use mild Italian sausage, of course with no casing. Amp up the garlic and throw in some basil and this recipe is fabulous!

Since I read a review that said these had no flavor, I added more salt & pepper than recipe recommends and I threw in some Italian seasoning in addition to the ingredients listed. The whole family enjoyed these & I plan to make again!
(We ate with rice, sweet potato, soy sauce--subsitute with coconut aminos if you are doing Whole 30-- and hot sauce.)
