- 1/2 cup water
- 1 vanilla bean (split and seeds scraped)
- 2 oranges (very thinly sliced, 1/8-inch slices)
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 10 Tbsp. butter (melted)
- 1 1/4 cups almond meal (/flour, you can use almond meal made from blanched almonds or raw almonds with skin. I tried it both ways and both are equally good but the blanched gives a whiter cake that shows off the oranges better)
