Ingredients

  • 8 green tomatoes
  • water
  • 1 green chili pepper (or 2, for a spicier flavor)
  • 1/2 onion (coarsely chopped)
  • salt
  • ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cooking oil
  • 1 avocado (small, diced)
  • 1/2 cup lettuce (finely chopped)

    Directions

    1. Cook the tomatoes in plenty of water.
    2. Separately, roast the chili.
    3. In a blender, add the tomatoes, 1/2 cup of water they were cooked in, the chili, onion, and salt and pepper to taste. Puree until smooth.
    4. Heat the oil in a saucepan and add the sauce. Bring to a boil and let it thicken for 5 minutes.
    5. Pour the sauce into a bowl. Add the avocado and the lettuce.
