Best, easiest bread to make. Bar none! Details at the end.
It is so easy! I followed the recipe & the authors son's pictures and everything worked out perfectly!
Long story short, this bread recipe is fantastic, and takes minimal time and effort, albeit it is in 3 stages! For those of us who find baking bread intimidating, try this first and it will alter your perception forever!
I used a 9" round - and I have used the same size oval - Corningware 2.5qt, with a glass lid, and as you can see it works well! I have sprinkled a 1/2t of cornmeal on top before baking also. I baked at 450F with lid on for 23 mins, and then uncovered for 13 mins. This bread ages well too! Gets nice and chewy after a full day, which I personally love.
I also cheat a bit and I don't bother preheating the pot any more ...... it adds 2 or 3 minutes baking time, but still comes out great!

Very easy straight forward recipe and the bread came out great! Added a container with water next to bread container in the oven to help with the crust.

i was quite surprised.. i used ap flour instead of bread flour. my first thought was that it would not turn out right. after the 20 hours, the dough had risen significantly but was not overly firm. In fact i though it was runny. but once baked, it actually turned out very well. could have cooked a bit less, but very very tasty. just like a baguette!!
