- olive oil (or other of your choice)
- 2 white onions (medium sized)
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 4 cups water
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. plain flour
- 2 tsp. vegan margarine (optional, but it creams it up nicely)
- 3 carrots (medium sized, chopped)
- 2 potatoes (medium sized, chopped)
- zest (a lemon)
- rosemary (a little, optional)
- 1 green apple (peeled, cored and chopped)
- salt (to taste, I used my smoked one – available in the US from here, and in the UK from here)
- 1/2 cup red wine (or unsweetened red grape juice)
- 1 tsp. stock (dried, granules, I used Kallo – from here in US, or here in UK)
- 1 cup beef
- 1 cup beans
- spinach (chopped cooked, optional)
- cracked black pepper
