This recipe absolutely does not need chicken broth. The chicken releases plenty of juices on its own while cooking. Also, the chicken needs to be properly seasoned with salt and pepper before being placed in the crock pot or it turns out bland. Cooking it at the length suggested made the chicken dry so I then had to shred it so it could sit in the juices. Then I made roux, added some heavy whipping cream, fresh garlic, and Italian herbs and dumped that in with the chicken. I basically had to turn it into a pasta sauce and serve it over penne pasta.

I really love this recipe. it is very simple to make. I have even made this with half cutting it in half and it is still delicious. it has become a family favorite.

Turned out very well! The chicken was very tender and the pesto added a great flavor to the meat!

Very runny like soup, tasted good. Ended up mixing with rice and baking it.

This recipe is great if you want to make a soup of shredded chicken to serve over rice. Cooking chicken breasts so long will render them very fragile, and they'll never look like the photo above. Chicken is soaked prior to sale so the pieces are already loaded with fluid, so adding anything over an 1/8th cup of broth will leave the meat submerged. Adding 2 cups makes this a soup. Adding 1.5 sticks of butter and a jar of pesto will leave a thick layer of oil on the top of the soup.
I used chicken thighs for keeping the form and taste, coated the pieces with a mixture of pesto, Ranch mix and parmesan cheese, and cooked them via sous vide, grilling them afterwards for a minute on each side. They can also be grilled before the sous vide, or pan-seared for a minute, or broiled to brown. Topped with mozzarella or Italian blend cheese, fresh basil, a few strips of sundried tomatoes, and a few capers.

It was so delicious!! My husband LOVED it!! It was a little soupy but I just shredded the chicken to soak up more flavors and served it with angel hair pasta with butter, Parmesan and garlic salt. Sliced up some on the vine tomatoes pretty thin and added them about a half hour before and that added a great extra flavor! Soooo good!!

Fantastic! I used Classico brand pesto. I get asked to make this often. Sometimes I shred my chicken afterwards and make pulled chicken sandwiches. My teens love it!

Loved it! But reduced the time to 4 hours on low. Added sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms and served over pasta roni. Sauce is a broth, next time I will reduce the amount of broth to get a less 'soupy' result. Flavor is awesome!

So easy, so tasty! I made some linguine noodles, put the chicken on top and scooped some juice from the crockpot and poured over the noodle - so delicious!

I think this is my first review ever, but I had to say how pleased I was with this recipe. The best part was that I did it all in the Instant Pot. I only used one stick of butter and did salt and pepper the chicken before adding it to the pot. The chicken was moist and juicy. I served it over pasta and everyone enjoyed it.

Delicious! We ate it over spaghetti noodles. Stored it together in the fridge & it was even better the next day! Will make this again.

It turned out great! I also added mushrooms and additional seasonings to the chicken! Would’ve liked the sauce a little thicker but overall great.

It was pretty good, strong on some pesto in some bites. I added tomato which was a nice touch.

i felt it was okay. a little bland it needed more salt and if i make it again i would either add noodles to soak up the juices or use like half a cup of broth instead. i felt the broth took away from the pesto flavor. also it turned out a bit dry so next time i may try baking it instead.
