- 6 apples (Mom uses McIntosh apples, I use a mix of whatever looks good)
- 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 5 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. table salt (or fine sea)
- 1 cup vegetable oil (safflower, sunflower, olive and coconut oil also work, as does melted butter)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 32.5 mL vanilla extract (teaspoons)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup walnuts (chopped, optional and to be honest, we never use them)
