Fresh Baker a year ago
This method wasn’t my favorite. The corn didn’t cook as thoroughly as I’d like, was too hot to shuck easily (even after letting it sit after microwaving), and I didn’t feel it had any more flavor than when boiled..

Yess! I've been cooking corn in the microwave for years! It is the best way ever. Be careful when handling it when it comes out of the micro.
It is HOT!

I've been cooking corn in the microwave for years now,and your mother in law is right this is the best way to cook corn on the cob.It holds all the flavor in where boiling in water takes it out. Also if you microwave your cream corn to put in freezer it works better because it don't stick like heating up on top of the stove.

This is the way I cook fresh corn, except since I have no family at home I do one ear at a time and cook for 4 minutes in the microwave. Much easier than de-husking and de-silking and boiling or steaming on the stove (and uses less water in the drought.) The silk and, after eating, the husks and cob (broken up) go into my compost pile.

I started cooking our sweet corn this way earlier this year. I cook it a bit longer more like 5 minutes for 4 ears. Perfectly cooked, easily de-silked, delicious every time. It is the best tasting corn I've eaten!
