I didn't add bay leaves or parmesan. I also only used tomato sauce and no real tomatos (but that shouldn't have effected flavor, just the texture) I really hope adding parmesan would have helped because otherwise this recipe was really boring. had to add salt and about a tablespoon or more of sugar and even then it was just decent

Added a can of tomato paste to thicken more quickly. Added brown sugar. Added favorite herbs and spices. Amazing base recipe!

I used 1/2 tsp of fresh parsley instead of dry and omitted the parmesan (didnt have any on hand) and it turned out great. I also left it to simmer for about an hour.
