- 2 tsp. potato starch (halve if using cornstarch)
- 2 tsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tsp. minced ginger
- 4 green onions (white part only, minced)
- 1 Tbsp. fermented black beans (roughly chopped, black bean paste will also work)
- 1/2 tsp. Sichuan peppercorns (black seeds removed then ground, optional)
- 6 oz. ground pork
- 2 tsp. doubanjiang (chili bean paste)
- 14 oz. silken tofu (block of, drained and cut into 3/4” cubes)
- green onions (green part of, minced for garnish, optional)

I really liked this recipe-not as good as some restaurants I’ve had it at hence the 4 instead of 5 stars...but really good!!

This recipe absolutely hit the craving I was going for, I only made a slight change which was to add a bit of tomato sauce to make it a little less thick. It worked out perfect for me. The recipe is a must try!

I used beef broth and minced beef instead, gochujang instead of doubanjiang, maizena instead of potato starch, lee kum kee black bean garlic sauce instead of fermented black bean, dried chilli instead of sichuan peppercorn, lower the garlic amount comes out as good :)

This was great!! So much so, my husband said it was right up there with his moms Mapo Tofu (his favorite dish)
