- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- grated nutmeg (pinch of freshly)
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (cold, but into small cubes)
- 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
- 2 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
- 3/4 cup buttermilk (cold)
- 1 cup fresh blueberries (you can used thawed and drained berries from the freezer although the scones will have a more purple color)
- 3 Tbsp. buttermilk (for brushing the tops of the scones before baking)
- granulated sugar (for sprinkling on top before baking)

Wonderful. Did not add maple syrup. First time I made scones with egg. will make with egg from now on. Texture and flavor much better than without egg.
UPDATE (12/03/20) Here is picture below using changes to recepie. Biggest change was to increase thikness to 1-1/2 to 1-3/4". Also increased flour to 3-1/4 cups and buttermilk to 1 cup. Also increased baking powder to 3 tsps and added 1/3 tsp of ginger. Cut triangles cut out of 3" squares and apace on pan ao all sides will brown. Now you have a Panera comparable instead of the round bisciut shape.

They were pretty good but you can't taste the maple. Next time I will be adding more maple syrup. Will definitely be making them again, though.
