Doubled the apples, chopped, soaked in lemon juice & water mixture, then strained. Used 2 tbsp apple pie spice., 1 c. oats, 3/4 c. a.p. flour, 2/3c. brown sugar, 2 tbsp low-fat margarine, all this stuff in *this* sentence all mixed together (pastry blender—best thing EVER, hand mixer spinners, or fork useable). Oven preheat & pre-spray as original recipe directs. Pour apples in chosen bakeware. Half-sprinkle and half-push in the flour-oats mixture so that some goes into the crevices and some is a crust on the apples. Let cool and enjoy (with whatever form of milk you drink, nuts, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, etc.) Only changes I would add to the original/my version recipe, is add 2-3 cups of unsweetened apple sauce (mixed with 1/2c. of water), mix THIS mixture with apples, before adding oats mixture. Will add moisture to crisp without sky-rocketing the sugar content. Good luck!
