- 3 tsp. olive oil (depending on your pan)
- 5 hot Italian sausage links (turkey or pork Hot Italian Sausage)
- 1 lb. ground beef (we used ground beef with 10% fat, take your choice on that)
- salt (to taste)
- freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
- 1 onions (diced small)
- 2 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 3 cups cabbage (finely chopped cabbage or coleslaw mix (This is about 10 oz. cabbage after chopping. You can replace a little bit of the cabbage with cooked brown rice if you prefer.))
- 2 tsp. dried basil
- 2 tsp. dried oregano
- 2 tsp. dried basil
- 2 tsp. dried oregano
- 4 bell pepper ( large red or green bell peppers, cut in half lengthwise and stem and seeds cut out)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (freshly grated)
- 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese (grated, plus more to put on the top of each pepper)

This is a delicious recipe. I doubled it so we have leftovers. I used half ground Turkey and half ground beef. This is a keeper!

This was easy to make and was absolutely delicious. I have left overs and am going to chop everything together to put in a tortilla shell for lunch tomorrow, a spicy beef soft taco. I think it would also work well chopped up and put on a toasted sub roll, treated like a cheeseburger sub.
