This came out fantastic I used cornstarch before the broil instead of tapioca. Substituted 1 cup zigzag Bloody Mary mix instead of tomato juice Also needs little spice crushed red pepper or Tabasco really brings out the flavor and gives it a little extra kick served with rice and was a hit with the fam.

Great base stew, going to at least double it next time as we ate it all and would have liked to have some leftovers. Added some beef broth to thin out tomato sauce as we didn't have tomato juice. Likely add potatoes, mushrooms and peas next time.

Everyone Loved the stew! I added “Slap your Mama” spices to meat before braising meat. Made too much for 3qt instant pot, I cooked it in the oven at 350 degrees for 3.5 hours. Everything turned out ! I also placed the stew on a bed of flat noodles!
Perfect for hungry adults after a day of skiing!

It was great! The flavor was delicious and everything was nice and tender. Used arrowroot instead of tapioca for the thickener and added quartered mushrooms at the end. I think I will add more vegetables the next time.

I love making stews and soups in my InstantPot and this is the best stew recipe I’ve found. I was a little bit concerned that there wouldn’t be enough liquid but it turned out perfectly. The only thing I did differently was to brown the meat on sauté in the InstantPot before starting the cooking. It was absolutely delicious. I wouldn’t change anything.
