Description

This basic dough, made with brewer's yeast and strong flour, makes a good case for breaking out your bread machine. After it rises, the dough is stuffed with slices of brie and sweet pear compote, shaped into loaves and given time to rise again. The loaves are scored diagonally before transferring to the oven to bake. Slice the bread and serve it hot with honey, jam or additional more warm, gooey brie.

  • 450 grams potatoes
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 grams flour
  • 50 grams granulated sugar
  • 1 lemon
  • salt

    Directions

    1. Wash the potatoes well with a brush, place them in a stockpot with cold water and boil them for approximately 30 minutes. Drain the potatoes, peel them, and mash them with a potato masher.
    2. Cool the potatoes slightly and mix the zest and juice from 1 lemon, flour, eggs, sugar, and salt.
    3. Shape the dough into several links that are approximately 1.5 centimeters thick. Cut into pieces measuring 12 centimeters, and bring the ends together into a circle.
    4. Fry the doughnuts in oil at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in a generous amount of very hot oil until golden and drain them on paper towels.
    5. Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.
