- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup butter flavored shortening
- 1 tsp. vanilla bean paste
- 2 tsp. lemon juice
- 3 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk (or 1 1/2 cups milk, minus 1 tablespoon + 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Mix together and let sit at room temperature for about two minutes.)
- 1 lemon zest (Zest of one large lemon)
- 5 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 cup almond milk (or regular milk)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 Tbsp. grated lemon zest (finely)
- 4 Tbsp. unsalted butter
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla bean paste
