- 1 lb. lamb leg steak (boneless, cut into 3/4-1 inch pieces)
- 1 onion (thinly sliced, optional)
- 1 green bell pepper (thinly sliced, optional)
- 1/2 cup greek yogurt
- 1/2 lime juiced
- 1 Tbsp. ghee (or oil)
- 2 Tbsp. ginger garlic paste (1 inch ginger + 6 cloves of garlic ground together)
- 1 tsp. salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1 tsp. paprika (or Kashmiri red chili powder)
- 4 tsp. Garam Masala
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp. cardamom powder
- 1 cup basmati rice (extra long grain)
- 1/2 cup cilantro (chopped)
- 1 cup fried onions
- 1/2 tsp. salt (for sprinkling over rice. Adjust to taste.)
- 1 cup water (: use warm water and adjust based on liquid content of yogurt, ginger-garlic paste etc.)
- 1/2 tsp. saffron (added to the warm water above)
