Excellent recipe! I left the cloves out and since I didn't have cognac, I subbed out a Czech liquor called "Becherovka" which has a lot of complimentary spices. It came out WONDERFULLY. Next time I will only use half of the syrup as the recipe made far too much. I also put some dark bitter chocolate ganache on top and it was perfect.
