- 500 grams mackerel (/ bonito/ tuna. Cut into approximately 1 inch thick)
- 1/2 lemon (medium, take the juice)
- chilies (some birds eye, according how spicy you wanna go)
- 2 cms ginger (bruised)
- 2 cms galangal (bruised)
- 4 kaffir lime leaves
- 1 stalk lemongrass (white part only, bruised)
- 1 curry leaves (> I didn't use it, I use bay leaf)
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1 Tbsp. salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 tsp. ground pepper
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 800 mL coconut milk (medium thick)
- cooking oil (enough)
- 5 red chilies
- 4 cloves garlic
- 6 shallots (or half medium size red onion)
- 1/2 tsp. anise
- 500 grams tuna
- 1 lemon
- 2 cms lengkuas
- 4 serai
