  • 1 onion (sliced thin)
  • 1 red pepper (large, sliced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 12 ounces ramen (or thicker wheat flour noodles or chuka noodles, you can also use soba)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger (grated, put leftover in the freezer for later use)
  • 6 green onions (finely sliced)
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chinese 5 spice powder (or more, to taste)
  • 1/2 cup tamari (soy sauce)
  • 1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin (optional)
