If you looking for an alternative to the same old Beef Stew this is it! Wow the flavor is amazing. This is a must try!

Turned out great. Will definitely make this again I used a light beer, cause other wise the kids wouldn’t eat it.

It was great I like the mashed potatoes makes it close to shepherds pie. I would suggest using Guinness as it’s not an Irish stew without Guinness

I doubled the recipe, and served it to my Bunco club - many raves! ☘️ The fresh thyme, I think, is the key ingredient for the excellent flavor. I did “cheat” when it came to the mashed potatoes. I used store bought (made with milk and butter), and added minced garlic and a little half and half. Topped with this excellent stew, no one knew the difference!

2nd time:
Another hit - though I may have peppered it a bit much. I used this recipe: https://www.yummly.com/recipe/Instant-Pot-Beef-Barley-Soup-2589862 (though I had pre-cooked wild rice (added at the end) and I threw in a can of cream of mushroom soup as a sub for the fresh but used the entirety of remaining ingredients.) From the above recipe, I subbed a can of tomato sauce for the paste, used dried parsley and thyme, and subbed Mom's garden zucchini for the green peas.) I didn't use anything else.
1st time:
We used the meat from our own carrot-fed cow - sauteed the meat first, ( 2 bags of meat). I didn't have tomato paste, so I used tomato sauce- eyeballed it for about 1/2 cup+, also eyeballed what I imagined 2 carrots would equal (I used baby carrots). I always add more beer & garlic, and I also used baby red and yellow potatoes. Completely forgot to add the green peas. Was RAVED over - literally, nothing was left.

Turned out good meat was very tender a little salty for my taste. basically a more labor intense shepherds pie but I would make it again and put in more carrots

Amazing! I made it with ground beef so that I could use it for shepherds pie. The garlicky mash potatoes were awesome on top. Very tasty!

I will definitely be adding this to the fall/winter soup rotation, my boyfriend and his son and I loved it!

it was awesome!
I always cook my beef with steak seasoning, Worcestershire, and soy sauce, but other than that, not much altering except that I used a light beer because that's what I had.

Was not what I expected. It was okay but the taste was to me inferior to a traditional stew. The butter and flour mix at the end was a nice touch to add body and texture to it. Will have that in mind for other recipes.

Excellent. I diverted a few ingredients to my suiting. It turned out better than expected. Hot and Hearty

I made the stew as directed but left out the garlic. I served it with my regular mashed potatoes. My husband loved it. I liked it. It was fairly bland but tasty.

I've never made stew before. This was ok, but the tomato paste gave a strong flavor i wasn't expecting in stew.

Best and easiest Irish stew I’ve made. The family raved about it. I used chuck roast, cut into 1 inch pieces, 1 1/2 lbs of it (I like more meat in the stew). The leeks added a great subtle taste, and the stout really deepens the flavor.

It was a big hit. I used venison backstrap in place of beef, and it turned out wonderful.

This was great! I left the peas out because we don't love those, and served with French bread rolls instead of mashed potatoes. Will make again

Delicious! I used fresh green beans instead of peas. I also used larger quantity of veggies than listed. There was plenty of gravy for extra veggies.
I switched up the directions a little. First browned meat and reserved in baking stone container. Made gravy by adding butter and flour to pan juices, then adding beer and broth while whisking. Add seasonings to gravy. I cut veggies while meat was browning and added to baking pan. I made mashed potatoes after stew was baking.
I will make again!

Very good! I didn’t brown. I just put the veggies and meat (not peas) in my slow cooker on low for the day. It needed more water because I was leaving it unattended. Everything else I did the same. I will make this again!

Excellent! My father is visiting, I made this stew for him and my two boys. He was incredibly impressed by the complexity of the flavors. They requested I make it again, soon. I don’t eat meat, but cook it for my family I tried a bite without the meat, WOW! I was ready to pour a bowl myself. Incredible! Forgot to pick up a stout beer, used a bottle of Devils Backbone Vienna lager instead.

Delicious dish. The whole family loved it. We will defiantly make this again.

Used a local Oklahoma Stout beer and this dinner turned out to be very tasty. I probably would add more salt next time. Plus I thickened this stew with cornstarch instead off flour and butter

Great comfort food recipe. Substituted vegetable stock for beef, gluten free flour for regular flour and used thin angus minute steak cut into smaller pieces to shorten stewing time.
Also added a bit of hot sauce. This recipe is a keeper.
