- 1 sweet potato (large, cut into pieces about 3/4 inch square, about 2 cups diced sweet potatoes)
- 1 lb. green split peas (2 cups split peas)
- 1 lb. diced ham (cut into pieces about the same size as the sweet potatoes)
- 1 onion (medium, chopped small, about 1 cup chopped onion)
- 3 bay leaves (large)
- 1 tsp. dried thyme
- 4 cups homemade chicken stock (or canned chicken broth)
- 2 cups water
- 2 tsp. base (or packets ham flavor, . I love Goya brand.)
