A very intense taste that may not be for everyone. I used regular molasses, but would recommend lighter molasses or treacle to reduce the bitterness of the regular molasses. Update: For the second attempt I added currants and replaced 1/4 cup of molasses with corn syrup. This helped reduce the intense flavour of the molasses.
