  • 1 yellow onion (medium, peeled and diced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • 1 jalapeño (seeded, and finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Garam Masala
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half (fat free or regular)
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 2-3, cut into 3/4-inch chunks)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • cooked rice (for serving)
  • chopped fresh cilantro (for extra garnish)

    I guess it depends on your personal taste, but I felt this was missing something. I ended up adding more butter than was called for. I would definitely use heavy cream next time. the half and half just was not enough for us. I also think there was a bit too much garam masala for our liking. next time, I will use half as much.

    Perfect I didn’t have cream but added Greek yogurt at the end also used dehydrated onions, and dehydrated cilantro, and it was still amazing!!

    Very good! I’ll recommend using whole seeds of cardamom and coriander and grinding them after heating them a little. This really adds to the flavor. Also, as recommended by others, I added lemon juice just before serving!

    It was a crowd pleaser, used half a serrano, instead of jalapeno to keep the spice level low for the kids. Everyone loved it and it was all gone in a few minutes!

    The recipe is good, but I had to alter it a bit. The first time I made this dish, I followed the instructions exactly, and the resulting flavor was rather bland. The next time I added 1/2 tsp of cayenne powder and only used 1/3 cup of half and half - much stronger flavor with just the right level of spice (even our kid liked it)!

    Turned out well but I forgot the cilantro which would have amped up the flavor. Pretty easy to make. Veggies don’t have to be chopped as finely as it says since they are all going into the blender.
