  • 1 cinnamon stick (preferably cassia cinnamon)

  • 3/4 cup crushed red pepper flakes (Asian, Sichuan chili flakes are the best)

    The chili flakes were crunchy instead of soft like when I get it at Chinese restaurants. What did I do wrong? I used a Chinese brand of chili flake, should I have used a ground chili instead? Thank you.
