- 6 oz. ditalini pasta (or other small pasta)
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 garlic clove (smashed but left whole)
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes (to taste)
- 8 oz. tomato sauce (can of)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 Tbsp. tomato paste (I buy it in a tube like toothpaste for recipes like this that just need a little!)
- 1/4 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- pepper (a couple of grinds of, to taste)
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
