  • 1 cup warm water (105° F/41° C)
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • vegetable oil (for brushing bowl and dough)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (or other bun topping as needed)

    I love these buns! I’ve made them several times. They’re so much better than the store bought buns,regardless of the brand. Wonderful homemade bread flavor and soft but sturdy. These buns won’t fall apart halfway through your burger no matter how much stuff you top them with! Great for sloppy joes too!

    These were great! As someone here on Yummly suggested, I let the dough rise outside and it doubled so quickly! The second rising, I let them go a little too long, so they got a bit flattened, but they still tasted good. Didn’t have any sesame seeds to sprinkle, next time could have used coarse salt, oops. Would definitely do this again.

    Perfect recipe. Took a lot of time, but it was great. The only suggestion would be to put a dash of black pepper in the egg wash.

    This is great I was begged not to change the recipe ever again for hamburger buns
    Very simple recipe to follow, but I have a bad problem of figuring out how to cut in portions. But the bread is delicious with our burgers.

    These were fabulous and by far the best buns I’ve ever made. I have tried other recipes and this is the one I am going to keep. They didn’t sit heavily on the stomach and tasted amazing. We used garlic to flavor them instead of sesame seeds. We already have plans to make these again for chicken sandwiches. If I could’ve given higher than 5 stars I would have. Amazing.
