- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 red beet (loosely packed cups very finely grated raw, peeled, 4.5 ounces shredded; 1 medium-large beet)
- 2 oranges (large)
- 1/2 tsp. chile guajillo (ground)
- 2 tsp. fresh rosemary (finely minced)
- 1 tsp. ground black pepper (freshly)
- 2 Tbsp. fresh ginger (peeled, finely grated, 1 ounce prepared)
- 1 tsp. ground white pepper (freshly, or less if you don’t want the heat)
- 1/2 tsp. ground cardamom
