Big hit with my foreign friends. We swapped the shrimp for tilapia and it was pretty delicious.

I used the recipe as a sort of guide, adding in okra, celery, lump crab meat, sausage and more chicken stock to balance all of the additions. I did think that 2 bell peppers were too much, so I just used one.
Also, the ingredient could have been a lot more specific. I'm somewhat new to cooking, so when the list says "1/2 onion, 2 green bell peppers, 1 garlic clove, etc" I was confused about how those were supposed to be cut. Do I throw the whole thing in there, dice it (and then how large do I dice it), julienne, etc? The questions seem stupid but they are very real for us novice cooking folk.

Turned out delicious, didn't have parsley flakes but used savory instead. I will definitely make it again. Yummmm

This was delicious. I used peanut oil as a replacement because I like the flavor it gives to the gumbo. I added 1 cup each cooked black beans and black eyed peas. To give it a little more boost in the flavor department ( not that it really needed it) I added a teaspoon of my home made creole/cajun seasoning. I will make this again
