  • 1 onion (finely diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 2 teaspoons ginger (freshly grated)
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder (I use deggi mirch)
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 4 green cardamom pods
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes (or 1 cup of passata with 1 tbs of tomato puree/paste)
  • 2 cups water
