- 1/3 cup whole wheat pastry flour (or regular flour or gluten free oat flour)
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (gluten free if desired)
- 1/3 cup dark brown sugar (can also sub coconut sugar but brown sugar is best)
- 1/2 chopped pecans
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 cup butter (cold, or vegan buttery stick, cut into very small cubes, can also use coconut oil)
- 6 Granny Smith apples (medium Honeycrisp, peeled, cored and thinly sliced)
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 1 Tbsp. bourbon (or pure vanilla extract)

11-06-21. Only used 1/4 brown sugar, 30 grams of butter+ 25 grams of evoo, half walnuts and half almonds, sweetened shredded coconut in the topping. For the filling used honey instead of maple syrup, added 1/4tsp of ginger , 1/8tsp nutmeg and 1.5tsp of cinnamon , zest of 1 lemon, 1 tbsp of lemon juice, 1 tbsp of cornstarch, a handful of dried cranberries and raisins. Will leave out coconut and cranberries next time. Not too sweet

Very yummy apple crisp with bourbon as a special flavor. Everyone loved it and it was pretty easy to make, too.

This crisp was a hit with my family. They are used to a higher fat and sugar crisp. They didn’t know this was healthier!
