Description
Burgers are always a hit at the family dinner table, pleasing meat eaters of all ages. This burger is actually big enough to share with the whole family, for an unexpected change of pace. The meat is seasoned and then shaped into one large patty (the same size as the pan it will be cooked in) and then served on a a large bread bun (or boule) that's split and layered with all the fixings and then cut into wedges to serve.

- 500 grams minced meat (beef and pork)
- fine salt (to taste)
- 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh thyme
- 1 Tbsp. garlic (crushed dried)
- ground pepper (to taste)
- 2 onions (medium-sized, thinly sliced)
- olive oil (to taste)
- 4 slices cheese
- 4 slices ham
- 1 handful arugula
- 1 carrot (widely grated)
- 1 tomato (sliced)
- ketchup
- mayonnaise

Directions
- Season the meat with salt, thyme, dried garlic, pepper and mix well.
- Shape it like a burger patty (the size of a large frying pan, because the meat shrinks slightly when cooked). In a large frying pan with a little olive oil, braise the onions until very tender.
- Remove and set aside. In the same pan, and without greasing any further, fry the burger patty on both sides.
- Cut a bun in half and sprinkle both halves with the grease made from cooking the meat. Place the onion, burger patty, cheese, ham, arugula, carrot, tomato, mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard on the bottom bun, cover with the top bun and enjoy.
