- 1 cup unsalted butter (cold and cut into cubes)

- 1/2 cup buttermilk (cold)
- 5 cups strawberries (fresh, hulled and sliced in half)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/4 tsp. grated nutmeg (freshly)
- 2 tsp. ginger (freshly grated, I peeled the ginger and used the small end of a box grater to grate fine.)
- 1 large egg (beaten and granulated sugar for topping the unbaked pie)
