- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
- 2/3 cup buttermilk (cold)
- 1 large egg (beaten with 1 Tablespoon milk)
- 3 Tbsp. granulated sugar (mixed with ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon)
- ice cream (optional topping:, or whipped cream)
