- 1 1/2 tsp. xanthan gum (omit if your blend already contains it)
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp. instant yeast (breadmaker or rapid rise)
- 1/2 ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1 eggs
- 1 egg whites
- 1 cup milk (+ 2 tablespoons (9 fluid ounces) milk (any kind, just not nonfat), at room temperature)
- 4 Tbsp. unsalted butter (or virgin coconut oil, melted & cooled)
- oil (for frying or non-aerosol oil spray for Air Frying)
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- 1 Tbsp. milk (any kind, plus more by the 1/4 teaspoonful if necessary)
