I made this for my brothers birthday! My husband said it was weird, my brother and mom said it was the best German chocolate cake they’d ever had. The icing was a bit runny. unsure if I didn’t cook it long enough or if it’s supposed to be that way. I didn’t like the liquid much so next time I will try to cook it longer and add more coconut & pecans for thicker frosting.

Good! The frosting was a little runny but maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be? It matches the recipe picture, so Lord, willing, we’ll be good to go!

I made this cake as part of a Father's Day gift. My husband loved this cake, especially the pecans. The cake came out super moist and delicious. I'm not a German Chocolate cake fan, but my husband told me to try a slice and I'm glad I did. Excellent recipe.

This is the best recipe for a German chocolate cake I’ve ever used. It was a big hit for my family and a lady I work with that had me make cakes for her church group. Definitely recommend this recipe.

This turned out amazing. Per other's suggestions, I added a LOT more cornstarch to the sauce. I also pureed the sauce to make it even thicker. Made it for Keith's birthday dinner!

Came out good except for runny frosting. Didn’t see the corn starch suggestion until it was too late. Still, it was delicious. I will try it again.

I will definitely make this again. The best chocolate cake ever! I was worried about the pecan coconut sauce mixture being too much but I put it all on which is why you need 3-4 layers. I may make it in a 9x 13 for a 2 layer and would then halve the amount of sauce.

My first time making german chocolate cake, I never used to like it until I made this recipe! Everyone else said it was the best cake they've had! I recommend adding the 1 Tblsp of cornstarch to the frosting before you add the pecans and coconut it thickens up real nice!
