- 1/2 cup water (or lemonade)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 5 cloves (about 1 tsp of whole cloves)
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract (or ½ vanilla pod seeds plus the pod)
- 4 bosc pears (peeled, but leaving some of the pear peel near the stalk)
- 2 oz. semi sweet chocolate
- 1.5 oz. prunes
- 1.5 oz. almond slivers
- 2 Tbsp. liquid (poaching, from above)
- 1 oz. ground almonds
- 1 oz. sugar
- 2 oz. flour
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 egg
- 4 puff pastry (x 4.5 - 5 inch diameter, rounds)
- beaten egg (for brushing the pastry)
