- 4 Roma tomatoes (known in Mexico as jitomate Saladet)
- 5 serrano chiles
- 1/2 white onion (a large, sliced)
- 1 clove garlic (optional)
- 1 cup Mexican beer
- 2 sprigs cilantro
- salt (to taste)
