- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes (depending on how spicy you like it)
- 15 oz. crushed tomatoes (San Marzano are great)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 2 spicy Italian sausage (links, casing removed and crumbled)
- 1 French bread loaf (cut in half length-wise, I use La Brea Bakery brand French Loaf)
- olive oil (about 2 tablespoons)
- 1/2 cup marinated artichoke hearts (drained and patted dry with paper towel, and quartered)
- 3 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded whole-milk)
- 1/4 cup pitted kalamata olives (sliced)
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (torn or whole)
