- 1 onion (medium, finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
- 1 Tbsp. oil (preferably olive oil)
- 1/2 lb. ground beef (or turkey)
- 1/4 cup canned tomatoes (or fresh, chopped)
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. canela
- 1/4 tsp. cumin
- 3 dashes ground cloves (much less than ¼ teaspoon)
- 1/4 tsp. oregano (crushed)
- 3 dashes crushed red pepper flakes (or ground red, cayenne pepper)
- 10 green olives (small, or 4-5 large, sliced, preferably stuffed with red pimentos)
- 1 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
- 6 empanada discos (discs from package of 10 pre-made)
- 1 Tbsp. milk (or substitute oil to brush on top of closed empanadas)
- 2 tsp. sugar (to dust empanadas, on top of milk or oil before baking)

A little bland considering the ingredients. I added a little salt, and that helped a lot. Used ground turkey. Would probably go with beef next time.
