    All around success despite necessary substitutions. No heavy cream so substituted half and half for the cream and milk in the recipe. No vanilla bean so half a tablespoon vanilla extract beaten into the egg, sugar, cornstarch mixture. Wonderfully enthusiastic response from a houseful of pie makers. This is now my go-to banana cream pie recipe. 7 bananas, how wonderful!
