- 1 1/4 tsp. cumin seeds
- 1 1/4 tsp. ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric
- 1/8 tsp. asafetida (or 1 clove garlic, pressed)
- 14 oz. diced tomatoes (fire-roasted preferred)
- 2 tsp. ginger paste (or minced ginger root)
- 1/2 tsp. cayenne (or other hot red pepper, less or more, to taste)
- 15 oz. chickpeas (cooked, rinsed and drained, or 1 1/2 cups)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup parsley (minced, or cilantro)
- 1/4 tsp. Garam Masala (start with less and add more to taste)

Good, but I felt it was missing something - not sure if it would be another spice or ingredient. I added the garam masala to the pot at the same time as the other spices. I had to use more liquid than the 1/2 cup of water. I added more water and also unsweetened almond milk. I wonder how coconut milk would work with this dish.

Missed out the cayenne because I didn't have any and it was definitely missing something - even a mild chilli powder would have done I think!
