4 SERVINGS
- 1 cup wine (wine, I use a French Sauvignon Blanc and drink the rest with the fondue as it obviously pairs nicely)
- 1/2 lb. swiss cheese (shredded, Trader Joe's sells a bag of Swiss and Gruyere blend…it doesn't get any easier than that!)
- 1/2 lb. Gruyere cheese (shredded)
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 baguette (cubed)
- 1/2 lb. sausage (cooked and sliced)

I made it! Don't have a Trader Joe's within an hour plus drive, My store had Gruyere Cheese and I used Havarti on a friends recommendation. I put in the cup of white wine, the nutmeg, and the flour. It was not getting nice and smooth. I then remembered the salt (which I never add with cheese, but decided to) I told my husband to stir while I got the fondue forks. He said it is still just soupy...try some corn starch. Okay, I said, But it already has corn starch in it. Well, he says. Try a just a little corn starch. I did. Just a teaspoon and a bit of water to dissolve it. I pour it into the fondue pot with the cheese and Mount Vesuvius erupted over Pompei a second time. I grabbed some bread and bananas and started wiping up the cheese fondue from the table and the fondue pot. It really was hilarious !!!!! A fourth grade student doing a volcano project would have loved it and gotten a BIG A+.
It was very salty and I used less than the 1/4 tsp. I will not add salt ever again.
