- 4 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 lb. chicken livers (chopped, about 1 cup)
- 1/2 lb. pork sausage
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 3 green onions (chopped)
- 1 green pepper (large, I used half a green sweet pepper and half a red sweet pepper to add some color)
- 1 clove garlic (smashed or chopped, could use a teaspoon garlic powder)
- 14.5 oz. chicken broth
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 2 tsp. fresh basil (chopped, or 1 teaspoon dried basil)
- 1 tsp. Cajun seasoning (I used my recipe for Cajun seasoning)
- 1 cup long-grain white rice (uncooked)
- 1 drop hot sauce (or sprinkle cayenne, optional)
